STEP 5: Take and Pass the State Exam

The State Exam is made up of 115 questions covering both national and Michigan specific real estate law and procedures. A passing score is 70% or 80 correct questions. You will have 180 minutes to take the exam. Your test is scored immediately. If you pass and your application included a broker number you will receive your license at the testing center. Otherwise, the State of Michigan will hold your license in a pending status for up to 1 year. Once you choose a broker, the broker will notify the State and your license will be mailed out.
